SMART stands for Small, Medium Area Repair Technology, the craft of fixing localised damage without repainting an entire panel. For the everyday knocks a car picks up, it's faster, cheaper and less wasteful than a traditional body-shop respray, and when it's done well the repair simply disappears.
SMART repair is ideal for scuffed bumpers, kerbed or scratched wheels, stone chips, light scratches, small dents and vandal scratches. Rather than blending a whole door or wing, we isolate the damage, prepare the area, colour-match your exact paint code and lay fresh paint and lacquer into just the affected zone, blended so the eye can't find the edge.
The advantages are real: most repairs are completed in hours rather than days, at a fraction of the cost of a full panel respray, and often without the car ever leaving the studio. For lease returns it can mean the difference between a clean handover and a hefty end-of-contract charge; for a car you're keeping, it stops small damage becoming rust.
There are limits, and we're straight about them. Very large areas, deep structural damage or panels with heavy multi-point damage are better handled as a full respray, and we'll tell you when that's the case rather than stretching a SMART repair beyond what it can do well. Honesty here saves you money and disappointment.
Send us a photo or bring the car in and we'll assess the damage, tell you whether SMART repair is the right route, and give you a clear price. Most jobs can be booked within days.
The quickest way to start is a few photos of the damage over WhatsApp, and we'll come back with honest advice and a price.

Fixed, not covered up.

It is ideal for the everyday knocks a car picks up: scuffed bumpers, light scratches, stone chips, small dents, kerbed wheels and vandal scratches. We isolate and repair just the affected area rather than respraying a whole panel. Very large or structural damage is better as a full repair, and we will tell you honestly when that is the case.
Usually, yes, because we repair just the damaged area rather than blending a whole panel or more. For minor cosmetic damage it can even come in under a typical insurance excess, with no effect on your no-claims. We price after seeing the damage so you can weigh it up.
Done well, a smart repair is very hard to spot. We colour-match to your car's exact paint code and blend the repair into the surrounding area so the eye cannot find the edge. Metallics and pearls take extra care, and that is exactly where doing it properly pays off.
Most localised repairs are done within a few hours, and larger or multiple repairs may take a full day. Because it is often done without the car leaving the studio, it is far quicker than a body-shop respray. We confirm timing once we have assessed the damage.
Yes. We match to your car's exact paint code and fine-tune by eye against the surrounding panels, which matters most on metallics and pearls. A good match is the whole point of a smart repair, so we take the time to get it right.
It is one of the best things you can do before either. Tidying scuffs and scratches can save a hefty end-of-contract charge on a lease, and it helps a car you are selling look cared for and hold its value. We will advise on what is worth doing and what is not.
Yes. Kerbed alloys and scuffed trim are common smart repair jobs, and they lift the look of a car quickly. If a wheel needs more than a localised repair, we will point you toward a full alloy refurbishment instead and explain why.
A properly prepped, colour-matched and lacquered repair is a permanent fix, not a temporary cover-up, and it wears like the paint around it. As with any paintwork, how it is looked after affects how it ages. Fixing damage early also stops small chips and scratches turning into rust.
